I would suggest replacing them with one of the following:
1. Nidoran (Male or Female. Moon is one of the few evolutionary stones you can get before Kanto and Nidoking/quee are absolute beasts.)
2. Heracross (Get from headbutting trees. Takes a while, but it is a powerhouse.)
After Whitney, you'll have an opportunity to grab a few good pokes:
Sudowoodo is a way better rock type than Onyx, and you literally can't miss it.
You'll get an Eevee soon, and either Umbreon or Espeon will be awesome.
Koffing is in the next town, and can be super useful as well.
Magnemite isn't too far off either, and it's a beast.
Finally, you'll need a Surf mon in the not too distant future. Your good options are kind of limited, so I might suggest getting an early route rodent soon to make an HM slave. After that, you can catch a variety of decent water types to pick up HM duty.
