Smash has never had a Gen 3 or Gen 5 Pokemon playable. If it were to suddenly get one for each, which ones would you think would be chosen and which ones would you want to be chosen?

Also, what Pokemon (of any generation) would you like to be playable in Smash?

Mawile and Zoroark for gens 3 and 5. If I could take Pokemon's current reps and redo them it'd be something like
Pikachu/Mewtwo/Meowth(+A-Meowth)/Scizor/Pokemon Trainer/Zoroark/Greninja/Silvally

But that's just my personal bias, the only outright bad Pokemon rep is Incineroar.

I don't even mind Incineroar just because it's fun to play and it has a lot of personality. Definitely not the Gen 7 rep I'd have chosen, but... I've made peace with it.

I think Rotom would be a good choice. Pokémon has a lot of interesting potential reps but most of them have no chance because they're totally unimportant. Rotom has recently become an exception.
They should just make a Pokémon-only version of Smash.

I think a Pokemon only Smash would have made a lot more sense than Pokken, actually. If anything, now that they've made "Smash Ultimate" it might be smarter to do that instead of a new Smash game in the future. Just make spin offs that are PURELY one series.

Be a lot better than ANOTHER musou... though I'd love to see a Pokemon musou potentially.

Grovyle, with a moveset based more on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. We could use a Pokemon spn-off rep, and Grovyle is the best choice and fills the Gen 3 niche as well.

Chandelure. You would have a popular Pokemon that isn't shilled to death, and Chandelure has a completely unique body type not seen in Smash before. Also a Ghost type which would be new.

What other Gen 5 Pokemon are there realistically anyways? Zoroark's gimmick wouldn't work in Smash so there'd be no point to adding him.

He doesn't need a gimmick, though if he did have one I'd imagine it'd be like Double from Skullgirls where he perfectly recreates another fighter's move,

That's exactly the opposite of what Zoroark does, though. It copies appearance, but keeps its OWN moves. So copying their moves just wouldn't work.

I honestly want a grass type starter. Or at least a grass type pokémon. It would add some color variety to the current pokémon reps.

Sceptile is the most obvious choice since Decidueye got screwed over, but I could also see stuff like Breloom or Leafeon (but that won't happen, not iconic enough).

Absol with its mega and Haxorus.

We need more quadrupede characters in smash to be honest and Haxorus is one of the few dragon Pokémon that isn't too big for smash.

And? Lucario's Aura gimmick is entirely made up as well, Pichu doesn't hurt itself in the games, Rest isn't an offensive move and there's no reason why Squirtle and Ivysaur should share damage when only one of them got hit. Smash follows the games maybe 1/1000th of the time. With that said, Zoroark could function as a non-gimmick fighter but if he did have a gimmick it would make sense to be altered to fit the game.

The difference is this directly defies its actual gimmick. Those other things were made up, sure, but they didn't go AGAINST a set rule of that Pokemon's abilities. Zoroark, SPECIFICALLY, cannot copy attacks of what it copies. The whole point of its ability is that it's an illusion, not an actual transformation. It isn't Ditto.

Christ, it's just one example, if you're so anal about it, maybe Zoroark's gimmick can be appearing to be doing an action when it's doing something completely different, a fighting game example would be Krillin's afterimage in DBZ where he makes a copy that can either be a fake out attack or a real attack depending on if the button is held.

Personally, pic related would be it. It has a lot to bring as a fighter if you ask me, especially how First Impression and Emergency Exit would work in the game. Plus a lot of the content (and lack of) in Smash already would make it fit in quite well, considering Pichu has both bandanas for Skull and Aqua, little to no Gen 7/antagonist related content brought with Incineroar, fits in with most, if not all the other antagonists in the game, would be the first arthropod fighter, and the fact that it doesn't have a Spirit of its own (strange enough) could make it really good as an addition to Smash Ultimate. Not to mention, it plays a character type that has little to no representation in Smash so far

As for the question in regards to the Gens 3/5 picks, I'd anticipate that starters would be picked to hell and back (Grovyle or Sceptile) for 3, but I feel that they would probably pick one out of the Haxorus line for 5 (maybe Haxorus). As for what I would pick, I'd like to choose either Ludicolo, Exploud, Cacturne, Crawdaunt, Claydol, or Registeel for 3. And for 5, I'd choose either Seismitoad, Krookodile, Scrafty, Cofagrigus, Garbodor. Eelektross, Beheeyem, Beartic, Druddigon, Golurk, Bisharp or Landorus (Incarnate)
