What do you all think will happen? Will Town do well or fail miserably? If it does well, should we expect GameFreak to split development and make Pokémon sucky every cycle?

But it's not anon. The rest of the franchise is forcing Game Freak to have new material ready every three years. Town is merely them trying ot learn how to make shit look better to port over to the next Pokémon game. At the end of the day shit like this is nothing but an eye opener for Nintendo and Gamefreak, they threw their name around with Tembo and Giga Wrecker and no one cared to the point that Giga Wrecker had to go to Limited Run Games since no publisher would pick them up, they have so much money but their games rarely hit the level good indies do with Pokemon being their only major game, Nintendo knows this too probably using this as leverage to keep them since if Game Freak ever split they would lose Pokemon and live out the rest of their lives as "The guys who made Pokemon" making shitty indie platformers and watered down RPGs for mobile.

Gear Project has been responsible for games like Harmoknight, Drill Dozer, Giga Wrecker, etc. I even remember Ohmori talking about the “A and B” teams a few years ago in another interview. Unless you assume that the simple fact that it's called Team 1 means that it's always been higher priority, there's nothing to suggest this was the case until now.
