Mega Evolution has it's hiccups and I'm not crazy in love with some of the choices made concerning what mons access it. However it is overall a far more interesting mechanic compared to just giving any mon a Mega Mushroom

Fair take. I somewhat agree but Megas should've gotten the chance to be improved upon rather than getting the axe 2 gens after their debut, and only having 1 gen where they were actively making megas.

Mega evolution is so much better than z moves or dynamaxing, it was always hype seeing a new mega for your favourite or a forgotten pokemon.
Sometimes they are broken, but seeing a pokemon like mawile going from bottom to top tier is fun as well.
I have no idea why we need a new gimmick every gen now. They struck gold the first time.

This is online—not an in-game Vs. Battle against an NPC. You can mega evolve when fighting NPC’s or wild Pokémon on any given route. You can’t Dynamax everywhere in game.

Megas were the only thing i liked about gen 6. Almost half of my favorites have them. Dynamaxing is the worst idea gamefreak has had yet.

Cringe.
Megas were cheap power creep, because they not only they last indefinitely, but because they retain moves for settling and swipe, along new abilities that further increased that power creep.

I love to see how a useless move like protect will make a comeback with dynamax.

Which is my main concern actually as a VGC player. Dynamax mechanic alongside Pelipper and Ludicolo (Also Kingdra) being in dex will make VGC'20 meta full of rain teams because water STAB max move puts in rain if it gets removed.

This is what y'all should have been complaining about not no nat Dex removal. Cause common sense would tell you it's the not so popular Pokemon's wont make it (for now)
and the ones no really uses at tournaments etc. They've completely stop making megas which another 50 could have been added in

And being locked to only selected mons was shit, a clear indication that they didn't know what to do with it properly.

It was such an afterthought in gen 7 that it was locked until post-game.

It was a shit gimmick, so were Z-moves
