Im kinda glad that BW made me capture new Pokémon, I would have never tried an early ice type not called swinub and liked vanilluxe in game and I got an excuse in use the fishmon with basculin, simisear was OK but really bad when compared to the absolute beast known as darumaka and Beheeyem started to appear in these games, I fucking love Beheeyem as a synchronizer.
I'd take that experience over another Kanto remake even if 40% of the unova dex was inspired by the Kanto dex.
The bonus here is that despite no old faces in story you could transfer everything from the past games, something we apparently can't do anymore in SS.
