Not really. Only real cancer like FGO is that scummy, most gachas are perfectly playable f2p albeit it'll either be grindy or you'll need to be patient with daily rewards and such
That said, the reason FGO can get away with having a cancerous monetization is because Fate is a big franchise, and Pokemon is probably also big enough to get away with p2w cancer so I have low expectations for this

FGO isn't that bad. I'm day 1 on NA and recently started playing on the JP server as well, I've never spent a dime on it and never missed out on anything. It has it's problems but "Content barred unless you pay" certainly isn't one of them.

Chances are that it's going to have similar features to encourage more spending and give an advantage to people who pay, like most gachas. Outside of IVs which were fucking stupid, it wasn't really that bad for FEH either, resources like feathers are mostly just time-gated for f2p but achievable in the end. Which at least gives the f2p audience a chance to compete, it can get way worse.

This shit is as stupid as WHO declaring Gaming Disorder an illness. Literally any videogame can cause an addiction, not just gacha, and in general almost any activity can cause an addiction. I've played plenty of gachas and and let me tell you only shit like Fate, or stuff from aniplex in general tends to be jewish. Any other gacha is pretty playable without spending a single dime. Games like Destiny Child or Azur Lane give away so much stuff for free I don't even see the point in ever spending money outside of really wanting to support the devs.

Also worth noting, these leaks came out about 2 weeks before the conference. Some things on here were 100% confirmed to be true at the conference, some appear to be true, everything else just can't be confirmed or denied. The title of the game was also leaked on the 18th of May. If I had to guess I'd say all of this is true. And yes I copied this from the last big Pokemon Masters thread, I'd assume people would like to know about the leaks is all.

I also want you all to consider what happens if this becomes a success. Gachatrash is incredibly low budget and has fuckhuge returns if successful. Look at how FGO has singlehandedly kept Sony Music afloat from pulling in fucking billions of dollars from an actual small studio doing the work. TPCi will smell the money and allocate more resources to this, leaving Game Freak in the dust and Masuda crashing this franchise with no survivors with Pokemon Let's Go Date Lillie and Shauna. In Dragalia Lost its very common for people to have spent nothing and can clear all the end game content. The game is also so generous with summons that long time f2p players have 20+ base 5* characters. I know most gatcha games arent't kind like this but my point is that exceptions do exists. Dragalia Lost is also by Nintendo so lets hope they treat Pokemon Masters the same way.

With FGO in particular, some of the free gold servants like Kintoki can flat out challenge SSRs' usefulness. There's even fucking bronze servants like Hans that are ridiculously powerful as a support. Again, there's no denying that FGO, like other gacha, are predatory and exploit people with weak self control, but you are full of shit because the saving grace of FGO is that a lot of free/common servants are legit good, with some performing niches that not even SSRs can perform: see Arash, champion of quick farming. Even whales use him because of his utility, so you pushing this P2Win narrative is outright bullshit.
