ORAS wasn't good, but hasn't done anything really breaking the norm. You might as well have named XY instead if you think that.
The real shit started with USUM, when people made GF think it's okay to add Pokemon completely exclusive to one game, and it became worse with LGPE, which was officially called a core game and had a substantially reduced number of Pokemon available in it.

ORAS had new megas and cool secret bases at least.
I am not forgiving them for the BF, just saying that even with that it still is the superior gen VI game.
USUM was a fucking travesty, I was willing to buy it and expecting new alola forms for sure, instead it was my turning point and convinced me to hack my 3ds.
I am on the anger/depression train since then.

Thing is the problems in those games aren't nearly as pronounced as they are in SS. You could say the amount of issues in LGPE were pretty similar to SS but the ecpectation of that game was that it was just their way of getting used to the Switch hardware and putting out something to attract new fans and tide old ones over until Gen 8 was out.
OR/AS as a remake was pretty good other than the exclusion of the BF which was pants on head retarded. And USUM were an increase in quality over S/M in terms of content, difficulty and story. It's just that they shouldn't gave been 40 dollar new games and should've been what we got at base.
The issues those games had were at least rectified by something, meanwhile SS provide absolutely nothing for the smount of shit that's wrong.
That's just my line of thought. Knowing what I know now I would not have bought LGPE or USUM but hindsight is 20/20 and I never expected it to get this bad.
