For example in Fate/Grand Order, let's say I want Jack the Ripper. I will only ever get her from the Quartz summon because a 5* Servant can't be obtained through FP summon. Quartz are very limited unless you spend money, and even then, Jack is as likely as the others 10s of 5*s to show up on most banners, so I have to wait months for her to be a highlight of a banner as well, otherwise I have very low chances of getting her.
Alternatively if I want Shakespeare, who is a 2* Servant, I can easily get him multiple times from FP summons that I can do free daily.
Some games have just a single summoning method, some have multiple. Some have events hard limited by time, some add them permanently. We don't know what Masters will do yet. As a general rule, the more popular characters will be harder to get.
