Don't you think Game Freak are tired? They have to make essentially the same game every year while mobile gets the more successful and experimental stuff. Even their non Pokemon games are a flop. They're stuck making soulless games with no passion.

Except for the fact that they have the power to change that and make a fresh new experience, but choose not to because they know that minimum effort sells.

They don’t have to. Actually it would be better if the didnt make the first two games like ruby/sapphire, diamond/pearl, and x/y and just make the one game such as emerald, platinum and z. But they keep wasting the motivation away because they want money to the point it doesn’t even matter anymore. Either 1. Get more developers if its a problem or 2. Stop making a game every year its completely unnecessary and im pretty sure everyone here would rather wait every 2-3 years for a new pokemon game but 5 times the content and quality.

Anon...SWSH has been in development for 4-5 years now and they're cutting Pokemon, GF aren't tired, they've just never been capable developers, just like the other anon said, all their other games flop cause they're not good, they just got lucky with Pokemon.

If they are tired and want to focus on other projects, then give Pokemon to another developer, but no, they will never do that out of fear that they will do a thousand times better with it than Gamefreak does.

Gamefreak are greedy, hence why they release yearly and won't hire more staff.

If they had some artistic integrity they would put their foot down but instead they're embracing the money meme as if they don't already have more money than anyone really needs to begin with.

They don't have to make Pokémon all the time.

They could leave large gaps filled by side series if they wanted like most other series do.

They could do a lot to switch it up that fans would accept. Alola proved that, since while some people thought Trials were worse than Gyms most of the complaints were about their crappy storytelling methods.

If they really wanted to, they could have easily made the first Switch game some off the wall spinoff in the vein of the Colosseum games or Mystery Dungeon or any number of things and just added in compatibility with Sun and Moon. Why not introduce a new generation of pokemon in a non-mainline title if that's what they want? Pokemon is a series with a ton of potential and creative ideas that could be applied to it, but is current in the hands of some of the least ambitious developers who could have it.
