The response to Sword and Shield is a perfect allegory for the death of discourse. You have the Joe Merrick's who will stick their fingers in their ears and smugly dismiss anyone who disagrees with them, and on the other side is the angry mob who are hellbent on ruining not only Sword and Shield, but the entire past, present and future of the franchise for everyone. God forbid you try and provide a rational argument, lest you earn the ire of reactionaries everywhere. So the common sense people will abandon ship and all that's left is an ongoing conflict that is, by it's very nature, irreconcilable. Meanwhile, pundits everywhere are making money selling us pitchforks.
