They're just a minority. This is the truth, regardless of whether you like it or not. You can bring up charts about dropping sales etc, but the fact remains that Pokemon is still a very big and very powerful brand. You can bring up all the current flaws and so on, but the fact is it's still enough content for the typical, normal person on the street to be interested in buying. The hardcore fans dropping the franchise will not result in big enough drop to tank the brand, no matter how /vp/ likes to think. Go look at Nintendo's financial reports. Look at actual, proper analysis on Pokemon's brand value. Pokemon is bigger than its mainline games at this point.
