Like, Alakazam can create forcefields that immunize it against sword attacks, like that magician trick? This fits with Reflect.

It is canon, but it's also canon that it's filled in by 10-year olds. Some entries they ask adults about, especially the ones with culture stuff, but stuff like "it burns at 18000 degrees kelvin" is "I tried to pet it and had to get an ambulance, must be the hottest thing in the world".

Nope. None of the protagonists are 10, and it's stated in every game that the dex updates automatically.
