Alolan forms were created to type balance for LGPE. They're all Kanto pokemon with types that didn't have much representation.

When we're down to... 24? now, that was a significant bit of a jump.
Could've been done with new pokemon, but honestly only the dugtrio lines and persian are unappealing.

I doubt that. Dugtrio is too frail for that extra ten points in defense matter and losing speed always hurts any pokemon.

This. Steel is the best type in the game by a country mile. Dragons might have the best stats overall, but in terms of matchups there's a clear winner here.
