Firstly, Galar isn't open world. It has a large open area in the form of the Wild Area, but that's just akin to Hyrule Field from the various Zelda games.

More importantly, what sort of game do you think this is where pokemon aren't considered content? What happened to the days where simply exploring an out of the way location with the only reward being a rare pokemon or two to catch was to be expected?

What the fuck do you mean? I genuinely believe you have some form of fucking autism. Like you do know that more pokemon means gamefreak can now add more features to account for this? They added new forms of weather and all kinds of biomes just to fit all the old pokemon in the game, like thunderstorms and snow and sand areas. There's no reason that the remaining pokemon can't just suddenly spawn in the wild after you beat the champion like in ORAS, or there could be a new island with 100+ pokemon like FRLG or Platinum. Like games don't have to come out every fucking year, and if they actually put effort into a 3D pokemon game we could get this shit and a lot more, but they don't give a shit, that's why we get the worst of both worlds.

This reminds me of FFX when there was a huge open area that had the most sidequests in the game. The game is otherwise linear until the endgame where it's revisiting areas becomes encouraged to find sidequests, so I guess we should classify this game as open world, right?.
