I never played Emerald, I never had a special attachment to it or anything. But this reasoning made me furious. The man thinks the people paying full retail price for his games have the attention span of a brain damaged pigeon, and because of that he just says fuck off with it we can get away with cutting corners and everyone will be 100% on board because lmao who even plays our games.
This mentality became company culture and the lack of genuine backlash until now has lead up to this current tipping point where all the legitimate gripes of the last many years are accumulating onto a single project, and deservedly so. People give other devs absolute hell for shit all the time, why Game Freak has been spared this for so long is beyond me. Even though little is likely to change, I'm glad they're finally catching the shit they deserve.
