>>39196466No, I'm not buying the new game because I think the games gave been decreasing in quality for a while now, and what we've seen of Sword and Shield so far strongly suggests to me that the rate of decline is accelerating.
I loved Pokemon through Gen 5, but I thought Gen 6 was fucking terrible. It felt unfinished. It felt like half a game. I disliked that game so much that I was angry at myself for wasting my time and money on it. I'll admit, I didn't buy Gen 7 because I was so disappointed with Gen 6.
I was considering getting back into the series with Gen 8, but frankly, it looks even worse than Gen 6 did. The graphics look ugly and dated. The animations look terrible. Dynamaxing looks to be yet another stupid gimmick like Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves, but is somehow even less inspired. The removal of Pokemon wouldn't actually be in issue for me in an of itself, but in combination with numerous other warning signs, it becomes the straw that breaks the camel's back. Especially because the most parsimonious explanation for the decision to cut Pokemon appears at this point to be sheer laziness, flimsy excuses notwithstanding.
I am not going to be suckered into buying another half-baked Pokemon game again. Fool me once, Gamefreak, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
