The types are severely unbalanced, Physic is overpowered, only weak to bug and the only Pokémon that knows a decent bug move is also weak to Psychic.
There isn't a proper Dragon dealing move, you only get Dragon Rage.
Some moves don't work properly like Focus Energy

The bag just absolutely sucks, you can only hold a small amount of items, so you have to either toss items or put them in the PC, which is annoying when you find a lot of items in the overworld.
The PC Pokémon Storage system is also terrible compared to Gen 3 because it is not visual, you have to change the box, and sometimes you can run into a wild pokémon battle and not be able to catch it due to limited space in PC. Navigating through it is a bitch.
both Gen 1 and Gen 3 have no Physical/Special split, which kinda sucks (RIP Flareon), but having no Special split is 10 times worse. A Pokémon is more likely to have a high Special stat, than both Attack and Defence high. Also, Amnesia.
Overall, Gen 1 has aged quite badly. It's still fun to play, I just don't see how you can argue that FRLG can be fucking replaced by RBY. I'm not here to convince you that FRLG is a good remake, or that it was deserved, but it being worse than Gen 1? Give me a break
