The first "usual formula" pokemon game on not just a new system, but the first full console is the absolute WORST time to make huge cuts, and the biggest issue is that despite all his claims that its for "animations" and "balance", we've yet to see either of those be provided. Look at smash bros ultimate. "everyone is here", thats the gimmick, and Sakurai even stated they probably won't be able to do that ever again. It was the final, dare I say, ultimate, hurah for the series. The chad sakurai makes the ultimate culmination for the series. The virgin masuda divides staff for a side project while rushing the game, cutting the one fucking part of the series that people have an actual attachment to while providing an underwhelming product who's footage shows us its no better, and maybe even worse than prior games. Masuda is no chad, a chad would follow through on providing the benefits listed for the culling. But the truth is that masuda and gamefreak are just using it as a flowery excuse to put in less effort, because at the very least, if the developers aren't incompetent, then their management is the worst management I've ever fucking seen out of a game dev studio. Its fucking surreal seeing a company that has no idea what its doing stay functional for this long, but I'm glad people are seeing the cracks.
