>>39200255Was the injury pretty severe? I have a similar story without a very happy ending.
I came home from university one day a few years back to find that a ruby throat had crashed into my garage door and was panting and struggling in my driveway. It utterly mangled itself--broken wings, and its beak was bent and broken at angles I don't even want to think about, tongue lolling on the concrete. I couldn't imagine there would be any saving it, or if it would have a very good quality of life if I did, so I just held it in my hands and brushed it with my fingers to keep it calm until it died. I gave it a sky burial by the nectar flowers out front and let its body fertilize the plants it must have been feeding from and never told a soul about it until this post. Gave me a new appreciation for just how fragile life can be.
