Reminder that literally EVERY Pokemon has walking AND running animations for Sun and Moon...over 2000 models/animations. And it was all just cut with nothing to show for it. And they're not even going to see the light of day in the next set of games. Good job, Gamefreak

In my opinion I believe they made these for ultra sun/moon. Then when development for sword amd sheild started they realized the shit storm of worl this would be for gamefreak if they kept that going and dedided to not use them

Because you do realize many Pokémon models are several times higher poly than those character models, right? Machamp, for example, has a 50% higher count than even Lightning and is only about 25% off Bahamut in that game.

The 3DS not displaying HD doesn't mean the models aren't.

This was debunked, it's not a shit practice but something that fits today's gaming industry
Since storage isn't a problem now, they actually optimise model loading speed by using "200 lillies" at the cost of a bigger storage use
They don't have 200 lillies in their actual assets though but only one (two if you count Z lillie)
Each scene/game zone has a sort of file that determine how and which models it will use, and a copy of those models will be created to the game zone's folder so that they're faster to use for the game
The [insert reasonably huge number here] models are only present after complilation/gamebuilding, not before
