Putting the current products/ideas aside for a couple years won't affect anything. They'll just set them up with other stuff to do in it's place.
Filler anime/movies/merch/games . Doesn't need a new game released to use Pokémon from the new game.
No one cares if the cards sit in a warehouse while they print some other cards to sell for now and still make money, getting to make all the money for them later with no additional work.
No one cares if more filler in a filler anime needs to pop up like the Orange Islands or Battle Frontier Arcs when Gen 2 and 4 were pushed back.
And so on.
Furthermore even if it was a problem, no one cares. They caused this problem if there is one.
When you fuck up sometimes you have to eat your mistake and they can eat their mistake more than most people can. Billions of times over, no less.
