It basically is more of the same. But in my opinion it's the definitive edition of Gen 2. Physical/special split helps a lot, and following Pokémon is pretty darn cute. Soundtrack is improved a ton, and the game just oozes SOUL. I know that word has become a bit of a meme, but every little detail adds to it. From the sounds of footsteps to hearing cobbling water. I love that game. Fuck it, you know what OP? Imma finna join you and replay my HG version. It's been too long anyway.

No he's not. His coverage is insane and his stats are good enough to not care about having the perfect nature. I'd argue it's better than Garchomp, at least you can have it fully evolved in the mid-game and not being a mediocre NFE until well over the 7th/8th badge

HGSS is a pain if you want to play with gen 2 mons only. Most pokemon are shit and some of the few good ones locked in Kanto for some reason (yeah, Jotho exclusives only obtainable in Kanto). You only have a handful of viable options, that's why most teams end up having ampharos, crobat, espeon and heracross

I'm gonna start a new SS playtrough soon. Using breeding and Leftover Mons i have in my Plat/Pearle files. Here's the team currently
> Shellos
> Bronzor
> Drifloon
> Skorupi
> Magby
> Seedot
I Neve used any of these in a playtrough but i did use Magmar in ancient RBY playtrough ages ago. But that hardly counts. Using different Mons is fun.

I'm not saying you can't, singleplayer in Pokemon games is piss easy. I'm just saying Electivire is a shitmon in competitive, and always have been. Nothing to do with its viability in singleplayer

Alright, I beat the E4 a second time (used the same team, didn't drop Garchomp). I'll give my final thoughts now and take care of whatever is left once I revisit the game:
I liked it. Definitely the best game so far, even if it was a bit too slow for my taste, but there were a lot of high points. I really liked the exploration, which is something I liked in Emerald too, but I feel this region is better to explore with places like Mt. Coronet and Stark Mountain. Felt like the choices in team members were kinda lacking this time around compared to earlier games though, but maybe that's just because I didn't spend enough time searching for cool Pokemon to use.

Next game, Heartgold.

I think some people want it to feel more authentic, but I always throw multiple gens of mons in my team if others are available. I remember in my W2 team having a few Gen 5 mons and then a bit of everything else.
