Some people just do not have any idea how these businesses work. The games themselves are not the money makers here. The vast majority of the Pokemon fortune is made from merchandise and other ways of cashing in on a valuable IP.

If they make a shitty game, the core audience will become less interested, which means that the retards who build their identity on it will have fewer people to brag to and the identity itself becomes less valuable.

Example: How do you think Game of Thrones merchandise has been affected by the shitty show conclusion? Bragging about buying the Pokemon games anyway is basically admitting that you are one of the retards that bases your identity on corporations.

Sonic and Pokemon actually have a lot of similar problems. We have our own version of Masuda fucking up the series (Iizuka) and we have wars between nostalgia fans and modern Sonic fans similar to genwunners in Pokemon. But you're right comparing the two with sales, there's a huge gap. Sonic's design and attitude is extremely outdated today. Pokemon at least can stay modern with it's ideas.

I wish that were the case because GF really needs a wakeup call but at this point, its too big to fail. The best case scenerio is that the games undersell and sends a message but that message will probably just convimce them to stick to mobage.

What if GF is intentionally short selling the main games in order to tank them to make room for more mobile apps. Pokemon Go being the huge success it is means the company can probably coast off the back of that game for the rest of time and given the hype behind masters because it's bringing back so many fan favorites and being compared to the far inferior SS I have a feeling this drop in quality is deliberate.
