This. Fire is a really good type but rare as fuck most of the time. Meanwhile the games always have some grass mons somewhere between the first and third gym, and water is the most common type in the series.

there are 6 fire types in the sinnoh dex and 3 of them are the chimchar line, the others are rotom-heat, magmortar, and heatran. you could also evolve eevee into flareon. they added some more in platinum but it legitimately seems like they just forgot about fire as a type when they were making pokemon for gen 4. Ironically the fire type elite 4 had a pretty decent team comp because there weren't enough fire types to give him a monotype team.

I bet you'd also say Z-moves are cancer if they didn't help infernape so much

Swampert is objectively the best starter of all time by your own standards. It's the best in-game without a doubt, in competitive it goes back and forth between him, empoleon and infernape depending on the meta.
