Pokemon is full of bloat. How would you standardize the franchise for consistency? For instance, some of the things I would do:
>Leafeon and Glaceon evolve via Leaf and Ice Stone, respectively
>Arceus' Plates are a single item that can have its type toggled in the menu
>Type:Null's memories are dropped from future titles (remaining exclusive to SM/USUM) and he is now compatible with Arceus' Plate

To be fair, it's never difficult to locate the icy rock/mossy stone/magnetized area and it puts a small restriction on rapid evolution.

They are trying to avoid a gen 1 situation where you could have a nidoking/clefable etc before you even get to the second gym.

Changing milotics evolution to the scale was undoubtedly the right decision though.

they also stop learning moves, and you have to spend your single-use tms on them back then. not learning anything beyond level, like, 16 is pretty hard on both of them, and having more than one rapid evolution pokemon like that meant you were spreading your strong attacks thin by not letting your other pokemon have them.

Delete middle stages. They don't add much, and no one talks about them, besides Pikachu.

That makes it so much better in my opinion. Some pokemon, like a lot of the bugs, would need design tweaks to accommodate, but not much.

yes, sorry. king learns horn attack at 8, poison sting at 14, and thrash at 23. queen learns scratch, poison sting, and body slam at the same levels. every other moon stone pokemon (a whole total of four more, clefable/wigglytuff/delcatty/musharna) do not learn any new level moves, just stuff their prevos know at the move relearner as level -- stuff.

Shiny stone, maybe? It already evolves a few fairy-like Pokemon, like Floette and Togetic

That's a waste, just fix them. Work Megas into the gameplay more, and don't just give them to fan favorites and literal nobodies. If the generic Z-Moves had better animations, like any at all instead of freezing your Pokemon in midair, they'd be far better already. Have Alolan forms get mixed with Shines to become pokemon variations, like that Magikarp game.

It's called caring for your pokemon, and it's easy to do.

Nah, you can equip the plates to other Pokemon for a type boost, keep them separate.

You already have items to boost attacks. Mystic Water, Miracle Seed, and Never Melt Ice are examples for that. Having the plates do that as well is kind of redundant.

Well so far they're only buyable in FRLG's game corner, otherwise if you want extras you have to thief them off wild Pokemon (mostly Castform). So now we're talking about making all the type boost hold items purchasable without a limit, which could be good, unless someone can think of a downside to that.

There are also Incenses that provide a similar boost.

I like the idea of collating the Plates (and Incenses) into a single item that you can toggle the boost effect for. Making them able to be held by other Pokemon is also still a reasonable effect (the "additional" specialty of the Plates being that they change Arceus' and Judgment's type, and the Incenses being used in breeding as well).

Unless someone wants 4 or more of the same type booster items for their team. I got nothing to say to that.

the only problem, so to speak, with putting all of arceus's plates into one item is things with that toggle tend to be key items, and multityped arceus capable of carrying an item is a horrific terrifying idea. would it fuck with the way the bags work to give an item not in the key slot that kind of use? 'cause you know gamefreak wouldn't rework the whole item storage system for just one new muti-plate item. the mega stone doesn't have to make you pick from a list like that, it could just check for mega, if true then button in battle.

The hypothetical super-Plate idea would have to include container functions (like the FRLG TM Case, for example) to actually work. I wouldn't expect GF to rework the Bag, but that means that their code would definitely have to accommodate a new basic Item type that has container mechanics - something that doesn't exist as far as I know.

Or they go with the check-Key-Item route, but that means that players will be down 1 type-booster item if stuff like Mystic Water isn't over-the-counter or at least renewable in their obtaining methods (preferably a method better than using Thief for hours on end).

Y'know what? I like separate Plates but Incense could easily just be phased out. You can have a single incense holder on the map in the daycare and you switch it on and off. I forgot those things even had a boosting function.

Then just don't give the player a moon stone before a certain gym. The problem was the stone availability, not the actual evo.

rotom and deoxys is fine. silvally is also tentatively okay because its stats generally suck, but genesect covering weaknesses with a variable element techno blast and still being able to hold an item sounds painful. doing that to arceus just skyrockets his power. they'd still have to be held items and also work like that, which I'm not sure is a thing without significant rework.

Non type-boosting Incenses are the Luck, Full, Pure, and Lax types, which doubles winnings and Pay Day pickups, last-move priority set, wild encounter rate reduction, and accuracy reduction, respectively. I'm not sure about the Full Incense, but the Luck, Pure, and Lax types correspond to the Amulet Coin, Cleanse Tag, and Brightpowder effects in the generations they were introduced in (they provide identical non-breeding bonuses).

There are also the redundancy award-winning Wave and Sea Incenses, which provide the same Water-type boost, but are separated into being required for Azurill and Mantyke eggs.

I mean I'd rather they simply retconned Baby Pokemon into existence or at least retconned to use existing held items, but GF's predictability and reason in their choices of retcons are usually baffling and almost non-existent. With the rampant examples of energy wavelengths affecting Pokemon evolution, all they had to do was pull out the "it's this region" excuse for why specific Baby Pokemon didn't exist back then and there there.

Ban certain Pokémon from carrying objects when their ability is activated is a function that works on multiple Pokémon. It's better than make around 50 items to carry

Making PP Up purchasable would be unbalanced, but at least the Ether/Elixir should be 'Mart items.

Maybe the price for them is at Full Restore-tier but it would certainly give those items some new purpose in the game. Gen II put them in danger with the MysteryBerry and Gen III onwards reduced them to item clutter with the Leppa Berry.
