It's the not the "National Dex" device people want, it's having every and any Pokémon programmed into the game.

This is the most wide-spread I've ever seen the backlash, even when the divide between gen 2 and 3 happened that didn't get much attention by comparison as pokemainia had mostly died and the internet wasn't nearly as prolific as it is now nor were the circumstances quite as dire. I have hope but unless the normies can be swayed beyond the handful that are like "well, the switch costs too much so I wasn't gonna get it for a couple years anyway :^( " as they're all irrelevant in the sales numbers anyway.

Actually no it greatly limited the selection since some megas made pokemon ridiculously overpowered where you’d see the same teams over and over again online

OP I’m as upset as you, I’ve been playing this franchise since before I could even read, but I honestly don’t think any of this is going to change anything. The company we loved isn’t there anymore, it’s become something else entirely. I’m not going to buy the games, but even if everyone who browses /vp/ didn’t it wouldn’t change a thing

Am I happy they’re doing it? No. Do I understand why? Yes, which you have refused to accept. The thing is, ultimately, that GameFreak is not the TCPI, but their ass slave to do as they say and when they say it. GameFreak has constantly provided less and less content in exchange for new mechanics and a (bad) graphical transition, but they don’t sit around the table and discuss great things to cut in exchange for gimmicks and ways to excuse their coding incompetences like evil geniuses, but do what they have to in order to put the game out when it needs to be out because that’s how they keep their job.
Masuda and GameFreak are merely figureheads, a scapegoat for the backlash against the casualization and soullessness that now embodies this series. Go ahead and convince TPCI that they don’t need money, that the cutbacks in effort and funding aren’t doing them any good, because that’s the only answer. Your revoked dollar is not nearly great enough to dent them or even get their attention, and Pokémon is a very normie franchise; our corner of the fanbase couldn’t possibly make them do anything they weren’t already planning to do. It’s time to let it go and either let your morals dictate what you play or walk away from the series entirely, if you really want to send a message.
But I commend your attitude this far into it.
