Why does no one ever talk about how retarded the level curve between Cinnabar/Giovanni and the Elite 4 is? Even with how the remakes added 1-2-3 Island in between and without avoiding battles, there's still going to be an easy 10 level difference between your team and Lorelei by the time you reach her.
Grinding for the League is the most annoying part of the Kanto games.

I wouldn't count Stadium as she is vastly different there but her Articuno was decent. Wish the RPGs would include more NPC battles with legendaries that aren't plot bullshit

Anon, there is this game mechanic called types, and some types let you take half or a quarter as much damage as you normally would against an attack.

There is this other tool you can use called X items, and they increase your stats at the beginning of the turn so you can tank a hit or deal extra damage.

Considering the fact that generation 1 doesn't have a sorted item system, a bunch of key items and shit adds up over time to where I'd rather have shit I'd use more on me, and trashing or storing the other stuff in the PC

What do you NEED in your bag when fighting the E4?

At this point in the game you should have at least some moves up your sleeves that can do more in your advantage. Such as keeping a move that raises a stat by two stages.

Because you have Badge Boosts and EVs at your disposal.
The level jump is suppose to be THEIR advantage , while YOUR advantage is the usage of items, EV allocations (even if "random") and badge boosts.

This is why in later gens where the badge boosts are no longer apparent, the level gap is much smaller, and they're starting to make up for it with held items, perfect IVs and actual EV spreads.

This is also why people were able to easily defeat Red back in Gen 2.

In ruby my favorite way to catch Groudon is to weaken it and send out a Duskull. Slash and Earthquake are useless due to type and Levitate and Fire Blast usually doesn’t OHKO and misses a lot. It’s funny watching a +6 attack and defense ultimate legendary mon do nothing against this tiny ghost.

It's even easier in Gen 1 considering that the E4 only have the latest four level up moves, with very few exceptions.

I was able to slap their shit in Yellow version (where they have updated moves) with a team full of shitmons.

Levels are not that important. You have an EV spread that you can easily take advantage of without grinding or going full autismo and as long as you avoid natures that sets your pokemon back in their main stat, you'll be fine (i.e avoid modest on a pure physical mon). Not saying you should look for a perfect nature or look up the EV gains for each battle.

Let's take an example. Pokèmon Tower is filled with trainers using Gastly and Hunter, so use special attackers there. This is a hotspot, and I'm pretty sure there are similar for other stats.

Most of the time, even slow pokes will outspeed most foes because the game has a lot of speed EVs, so many that all of your members will benefit.
