Day one acceptance. I like the look of sword and shield, they seem to be improvements over Sun and moon, but the game being limited to regional-dex only is absolutely baffling and benefits no one. There is no reason for gamefreak to willingly exclude pokemon from online play and post-game content. I'm convinced that there's more to this issue than we consumers know about at this point and future news will shed more light on this horrible decision.

B2W2 was the Last that tried to do good postgame, Esmerald had great facilities while B2W2 had a lot of new areas and stuff to do outside of them, it's also one of the few games that rewards you with shiny Pokémon for doing activities.

The Pokedex having cuts is a complete fucking nonissue. They did it in Ruby/Sapphire too.

The real problem is that the game looks like ass and GameFreak does not have the staff to make a full 3D RPG.

What they could do is stop making any new Pokemon and just make a new game with the Pokemon already available. They should instead try and promote other features of the game instead. If they make new Pokemon, maybe add like 10 or something, that’s it. I feel an enjoyable game is more important.
(It’s difficult though to think of something that replaces the excitement of new Pokemon as it has been a staple to the brand forever, but it needs to be done at some point if it wants to survive.)

But eventually you could get any pokemon, you could even cheat and get them

In Swoosh you won't be able to do that since they won't code the pokemon in and the next pokemon game within the same generation won't be compatible because it'll have a different roster

Yes, I do, at least in online play and in post-game content like battle tower. I don't care if I'm forced to use the newest pokemon in the story of the game, but to exclude pokemon from the game entirely is ridiculous.

I forgave Game Freak for that when I learned it was due to technical limitations. For that to happen, the GBA would've needed to be able to talk to a GBC or even the original, which Nintendo wasn't willing to build into the GBA.

Ruby/Sapphire was a technical issue where they actually couldn’t transfer, though all Pokemon were available to catch for gen 3 at some point via FRLG or Emerald, side games such as Colloseum or Pokemon Channel, or mystery gifts and events.

They now have the technology to transfer all Pokemon from Home to SwSh. There hasn’t been a valid excuse yet for why they can’t. And, there isn’t any way to at least catch them, since the game is literally limited. They aren’t going to patch the game it seems, so it’s not going to be something that will be fixed with later games either.

RSE was due to the link cable technology not being compatible with newer systems. After Colosseum and FRLG were released, you could obtain a full national dex in Ruby or Sapphire, despite not being able to actually obtain a huge chink initially.

That's what they want you to do. If you want the mainline games to return to form, then you have to not support the mobile games. They're the entire reason why this is happening.

I don't really know. Before the June Direct I was on depression phase and didn't believe that they would show anything actually new. My hopes were significantly raised after the direct and I wanted to buy the game until the dex controversy happened.
The thing is, it personally doesn't bother me due to my playstyle but I am angry at their excuses and support those who are angry and upset about their decision. So I kinda want to buy the game since I will most probably have gun with it but at the same time I don't want to support GF's approach to the series with money. Piracy is not an option. Maybe I'll buy used or when it's on sale but I also kinda want to buy it on release date :/
So I guess I'm more at the bargaining stage now if I understand the model correctly

I love how people use this argument as if 1000+ Pokemon are added each game and that the assets aren't already made.
At the current rate of new Pokemon we wouldn't even reach 1500 by Gen 16 in 2051 and that's assuming every gen introduces \
