Ive been playing UM and I especially enjoy every time Gladion is on screen.
I didn't expect them to remove the Exeggutor Island Lillie scene though...what other changes did they make between the games?

First time was kinda charming, I did kinda like how she got pissed at Lusamine and her leaving was a nice ending to her plot. But that "Z-Powered form" shit was the worst, literally ruined Poni, and she's just a general nuisance.

And then USUM came and I was HOPING she'd become a trainer in the MAIN GAME (a couple shitmons post-game doesn't count) but of course, GF being the lazy shits they are, did absolutely fuckall and made Lillie's autistic family shit feel fucking pointless because Lusamine was good after all. And it further pisses me off because instead of expanding on Necrozma they just kept all the Lillie shit.

Overall, I don't necessarily mind plot if it isn't shoved in your face (Which it is with Lillie), but to me Pokemon is about a journey with you and your team, facing hardships and overcoming shit. But these games felt more like Lillie's journey, and I fucking hate that.

Her SM plot was good, as was the rest of the Aether family. They practically gutted it USUM though. Not only was Lillie’s character and bond with Nebby shoved aside, but the changes made to Lusamine’s character just didn’t make sense.

SM was basically Lillie's story and it was good until the ending that undid a good chunk of her character development by having her go back to her Mother.

USUM. I really don't mind the changes made to the family story, it humanized Lusamine and its still an accurate portrayal of a broken family. The problem is Lillie and her family lost narrative focus for the Necrozma plot. We only get implications of Lillie calling her mother out and we see the aftermath.
Although, her parting with Nebby happens in a more meaningful place if you listen to Gladion and check it out. Lillie gets to become a trainer as of the post game and most of her growth is still there. In losing some of the focus, she got a better ending and along with the other things in USUM is why I prefer that story as a whole over SM.
