It's a question if graphics. These games left a big part to imagination. Everyone saw their own vision of the Pokémon world.

pretty understandable
it gets a lot of flak and while I think some of it is just, it's also exaggerated and is usually just used to fan the flames. I will say that BW2 undoubtedly had a ton of unnecessary stuff, both added to BW and new to the series, and is a "kino" experience.

Gen I is only hard if you don't know what you're doing and stumble into a team that doesn't have good options
Gen II's Elite Four peaks at level 50 and the only tough trainers after that are Blue and Red.

GSC really took what was good about RBY and improved on it.

Also gave interesting new mechanics with breeding pokemon and shinies. Gave us cross gen support so we didn't lose our bros. And not to forget, the most based postgame ever.

What I liked about the older games was that I felt like I was the one in control. The newer games are more linear and are filled with unskippable cutscenes and events. They are piss easy and hold the player's hand the entire game.

If they were good nobody would complain. Heck if they just had a skip button I'd be happy, I can't force myself to replay V and beyond because it's a drag to sit through all the cutscenes again.

The fact that these games doesn't hold your hand through all the adventure, you have to figure it out by yourself by exploring the world and talking with the NPC's instead of watching a cinematic or been forced to go to a certain point like in modern games.
