Your parents ask you to do the chores. You reluctantly agree, but do them in a way that's, well, best described as "good enough". Later your parents check up on your work, see that it's been half-assed, and demand that you do it all over again, but this time properly. Now you're really pissed off. I mean, you've already done the bare required minimum, what else do they want? What a bunch of entitled pricks!
Now imagine that you're an adult but never got over this childish mentality. Moreover, you don't want to ever be like those boring old farts and have anyone to go through what you went through, so you actively encourage and support anyone with behaviour similar to yours.
This is pretty much where this acceptance of mediocrity and "think of da devs" crap comes from.
