Yes. They have to develop Town in order to have something besides Pokémon to fall back on. TPC is slowly telling GF that they don't need them. The mobile games are enough to sustain Pokémon. By supporting mobile, you're supporting rushed development times, shitty quality, and a cut dex for the main series.

this assumption is bullshit. Pokemon games have sold at the same rate for 17 years now. They don't need something to "fall back on

they're developing Town because they want to do something other than god damn Pokemon for their whole careers.

Pretty much this. People are quick to blame town when that game only exists out of the fear that TPC could replace GameFreak one day. GameFreak wants a new IP to support them the day TPC may divorce them from Pokemon.
