Can the anime survive another one of these, or is the Galar series dead on arrival if the Alola League is another dud?

Ash winning in Alola won't mean a damn thing. If Galar anime is more like Gens 3, 4, or 6 then Ash should win, anything less and it's not worth it

The anime is already a dud. You must have forgotten the that Kalos League final post-reaction. The ENTIRE internet had a temper tantrum at TV Tokyo and the executives. That killed a lot of people off from the anime. The Alola League will go quietly into the sun. They'll probably sneak in an Ash win, but the majority will not watch it and view it as another Orange League.

Hoenn and Sinnoh had multiple stadiums and Kalos's was built on a ravine with alternating battlefields. The island itself isn't even that big and most of the work went on the stadium, not the island. It's pretty cheap all things considered.

I wouldn't even care if he won now, the time for him to have won was back in Kalos. In Kalos, they could have awarded hi mthe trophy and continued with the sidelined "dude muh lysandre is evil plot" that basically ended up happening, which also brought more people back to the show once htey heard Ash/Satoshi was OP.

Honestly, if they had Ash about to land the winning blow just for Team Flare to suddenly fuck up the place with the magical not!Zygarde I would have been fine with it.
Then after the plot was over, a final rematch with redeemed Alain and Ash to give us a true conclusion to it. Along with the trophy, he should have been given 2 tickets to Alola for vacation, and then bam the basic Alola plot happens where Ash joins a school to learn about Pokemon in a new way for him and no one is angry.
