Which games' sprites do you find to be the best looking?
I have to say HG/SS, because they managed to make even Muk look cool.

I'd argue Muk had a great track record with sprites, it even fared well in the GBA games. HGSS is a good pick off the top of my head, more dynamic poses for everyone, the Sinnoh newcomers were often so much better for it. Funny enough I don't mind Sacred/Storm jacking up the encounter variety simply for all of the nice sprites I'd probably never see otherwise. GSC has a lot of gems too, each version having a different sprite sort of doubled each Pokemon's chances.

Gen 2 in general has really good sprites
RSE sprites looked generic for Hoenn mons and really bad for Kanto mons, but FRLG actually made Kanto mons look cool again
DP Sinnoh mons looked generic, Platinum fixed some, HGSS made all Kanto and Johto mons look cool again

I always found that non unova pokemon had better sprites than unova pokemon in gen 5. They looked "fuller" if that makes sense, where more gen 5 sprites looked quite flat

Gen 2 has the best sprites. HGSS is nearly there, but some are really shit like how boring Umbreon's is, or Jolteon and Scyther just having heads that don't look right.

When a HGSS sprite is good though, it's really fucking good, like Scizor or Machamp.

Gen 5 is pixellated but I really liked how they all moved, felt dynamic.
