>>39255602It's trying too hard to be cute but ultimately comes off as one of the finest examples of how GameFreak and and TPC are focused almost exclusively on making designs that work more as merchandise before they make that design work as an actual creature.
The overly-simplistic shapes, the shitty coloration, the lack of a defined nose build, and probably most importantly, Yamper may or may not have been sabotaged more than others because of the Pikachu Curse ensuring that any and all Electric Types nowadays get fucked over in some shape or form because they aren't allowed to surpass Pikachu in whatever aspect GameFreak and/or TPC deems worthy of being neutered.
By no means is Yamper an unforgivably bad design, it's fairly standard for a base form Pokemon that's going for the cute angle, but it's not a particularly good one either due to the aforementioned and most of the common masses like it on the sole merit that it's the obligatory dog of the generation.
