When you play pokemon competitively you want the fighting pool to go up, not down. The last thing anybody should want is the fighting pool contracting to the point that you are fighting the same teams over and over and over again like Monster Rancher or in the case of cards Yugioh where basically all decks are the same.
So any removed pokemon should have people livid nomatter what pokemon they are..... except maybe metapod and magikarp
