I'm gonna start doing what that other anon was doing. I've started with Red, and I just beat Brock. Liking this game so far. Any advice, /vp/?

Wasn't planning to. I only used Bulbasaur against Brock because none of the other wild mons could stand up to him.

Red/Blue are extremely easy. You don't even have to catch any other Pokemon and can easily complete the game using your starter alone.

You could beat the game using tackle attack only as well, if it wasn't for ghost-type Pokemon.

Red++ is a good improved version of GB Kanto. I recommend PokéMMO version of FireRed if you don't mind needing an Internet connection and the multiplayer features, but some people might disagree with me on it being the best.

My little cousin borrowed my blue and used Charizard, Onix, Khangaskan, Nidoking Vaporeon and Exeggutor.

He really likes Onix and Steelix to this day.

I'm going to assume you've never played a pokemon game like the anon you're referencing. In that case, the best advice I can give is something the game doesn't tell you about: Same Type Attack Bonus(STAB).

Using a damaging move that's the same type as your pokemon gives it 1.5x damage. Learning the types of every pokemon can seem daunting, so if you're not sure what to do, using a STAB move(like a grass or poison move that does damage from your bulbasaur) is the next best thing.

That's a shiny pokemon, named after its effect when you send it out in battle. It's extremely rare, though it's only really a palette swap. Consider yourself extremely lucky for ending up with one.
