anyone still playing these? how do you feel about these games generally? considering buying ultra moon tomorrow to start a new play through since i dont want to reset ultra sun.

I like the game, it's a nice adventure and the battle musics are top notch. Generally I like them, sure they are not perfect, but they are not as bad as they're memed to be

I'm honestly struggling to complete it simply because its such a grind to get through what was already a very poorly paced narrative in SM. You quite literally can't go five minutes without someone stopping you, and whilst some of that is new content from the I don't even remember it's been so long trying to complete it, most of it is stuff I've already dealt with in SM, and stuff that I don't need to deal with in SM as a long-time player. I've never had this kind of experience with a Pokemon game before, and I do want to like them - and indeed, I have enjoyed SM besides the pacing and handholding issues - but I'm just kind of tired of being treated like either a newcomer or, at worst, an idiot.

It's the best Pokémon game. If the original SM didn't exist everyone would praise it, they hate it cause it's just an improved SM but if you ignore SM exists it's a perfect game.

It's also the most complete Pokémon game,and will stay as such forever cause switchfags won't get all Pokémon coded ingame haha those retards

Yes, trying teams online and at the tower clone. Filling some spots for the collection..

They are the best 3ds games, but that's not saying much.
They were my breaking point, I couldn't believe they were realising 2 3rd versions at full price with a worse story, 2 new monsters, 4 new forms and a bunch of new z-moves, so I hacked them.

Broadly speaking, I'd agree. If I hadn't already suffered through the hand-holding in SM, I'd appreciate USUM a lot more. Though based on hearsay, the story is weaker. But ofc best doesn't mean perfect. I do sense you're shitposting though.

USUM is not bad, is just that it would fit better as a dlc because GF changed just a few things. If they released it as the first games of generation 7 than USUM wouldnt get so much hate for sure

I've been going through my backlog as of late. Never finished Emerald so I beat that last week, and I never beat White 2 so I beat that on challenge mode.
Once I'm done with White 2's postgame I'll be playing Ultra Moon. I really liked Moon but playing one right after the other really burned me out.

Cool looking, love the islands, the music, the atmosphere. The plot is too intrusive tho and the adventures is a railroad you cannot enjoy without being interrupted every five minutes.

I restarted recently. Still poorly paced, still jabbing B everywhere I go. Luckily I have the foresight to ignore Rotom every time it talks to me, so I think it will talk to me less overall in the game. Using Zorua as my "starter."

Still don't know how they managed to make a third version worse, but gen 7 has disappointed me from day 1, 2bh. Shame, because I thought XY was a fantastic foundation, even if those games were rough by the second half. At least XY had a decent first half; gen 8 is kind of a slog the whole time.

Story is slightly different but not in any meaningful way, biggest thing is you don't automatically get nebby and you fight a powered up Necrozma instead of possessed Lusamine

Post game is different, there's this ultra wormhole minigame you use to catch legendaries and UBs, there's a post game story with Rainbow Rocket that takes the place of the looker story.

A few extra UBs were added to the roster too meaning if you care about competitive you're forced to get it because Game Freak can't content updates.
