This is what animations have been like for the longest time, play the attack animation and have some effect fly across the field.

I just noticed that when the trainer is fishing and hooks a Pokemon the battle scene takes place on the same scene as Pokemon you find on land while in previous games you fought them in water scenes. SM made you fight in shallow water.

You're reeling them up onto land so they can't escape as easy. Didn't make much sense for your trainer to be on water.

You know, I remember reading a few months back that Gamefreak's B team was developing Gen 7 while the A team was working on Gen 8.
This made sense since Gen 7 was so fucking bad. But now I'm hearing the A team is working on Town while another team is working on Gen 8. If all this is true, what fucking team has been shitting out Gen 8?

I'm guessing if it's anything like GO, all type moves have the same animation being flung at the big boss. so power up punch, focus blast, and say low sweep would have the same red effect with the fist. that's why scald and solar beam have no real animations of their own either.

Don't care about animations. Pokémon are more important.

What they really need to do is simply go back to 2D so they can let 3D side series RPGs happen again with limited rosters but better animations for those who care.

Game Freak has done this shit to themselves and they can never dig themselves out until they fix this.

to what, handle more information on the cartridge or display that information and still look nice? There's a couple of relatively intense games for it already with more announced. Even Witcher 3 is getting a port, and that's a pc benchmark title, and it apparently is all fitting on the card though I'm not sure that's been fully confirmed.

I'm talking more about the animation quality itself for a movepool of over 800 moves. So you have to put people on making unique animations for 800 moves, new models for almost 1000 pokemon on top of another team having to make up new features, new Pokemon designs and the overall content of the game.

Gamefreak has always seemed like a studio that got way in over its head, so I don't know why people are surprised

GO has different animations for attacks of the same type. Focus Blast actually throws out a big ol’ ball, while DPunch is an actual hit. For fast moves this is the same too. Solar Beam is actually kinda fun to watch in GO.

oh. the models isn't much of a problem, it's not a meme when it was said they're future proofed. the stuff up to usum are hilariously high poly and barely run on the 3ds, so that's just rigging and texturing - the biggest brunt is already done. the new pokemon designs and overall content are from the same people, and then they're sent to creatures to make the new pokemon model, so some of that bit is also already outsourced. as for move animation quality, subjective. there are some things that flat look bad and have for a while - let's use breakneck blitz, the pokemon is shown zooming forward in its idle animation, not a running or attack one and it's very jarring the first time you see it imo. there's no rhyme or reason to what moves tween the pokemon forward doing nothing covered in particle effects or ones that have them do a taunt animation and then magical floating stuff appears to attack the air and it damages your opponent. the differences in something like bubble and bubblebeam can just be adding in a few more bubbles and speeding them up and people would be fine with it. the only real reason it's being utterly dragged on right now is they've claimed that many things are being removed for higher graphical fidelity and more expressive pokemon, neither of which has been shown to be expressly true since they are reusing assets.

I really hate this translation nonsense. They should either stream the video on a delay and put subtitles or get an english speaking rep to talk. These treehouse videos are the biggest waste of time to watch. Plus the game looks like absolute ass like it's not even an alpha build. It's not a case alike Valve not wanting to make HL3; rather, they are offering an experience that promises lip service to a number of features that they 1) could properly develop, 2) won't develop because they can not develop and still sell copies of the game, and 3) demonstrably don't care to develop as against creating a saleable product in the allocated time. Do you not want to play a good game? Granted, displaying muted outrage however often will not change things.

Its not what I'm trying to do, hell I will buy the game myself for sure, this shit (nor culling) is not a make or break for me at all. Tho that doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed on some of the stuff.
Also I'm 99% sure that after more trailers and shit, you and many others will buy the game, just wait and see lol.

Also made a comment on the video with the timestamps so people can just click them to quickly check all the moves.

Apparentally yes..Together with the "higher fidelity" whatever that means.

Though I gotta say that I'm interested to see this "balance" I think there is some truth to it, that more Pokemon will have a chance to shine with the culling.

If its a legit comment then idk, I think with about 500 mons and more balancing and without legendaries, there could be pretty great balance. But 150 is prolly not ideal number for a metagame, I kinda want to test this with local VGC players by having a tournament for each generation.

Pokemon will always be "unbalanced" in the sense that most won't be viable for competitive play. If you cut out the most powerful things in the game, then the then-second most powerful things will replace them. The only thing that really changes from cutting shit out is there being even less viable Pokemon to use. But hey, at least now the once-shitmon Tyranitar is on 90% teams; it's much better than when we had OP trash like Landorus that overcentralizes the meta by being on 40% of teams.
