Going a bit autistic here, but apparently Mew was never supposed to be actually part of the roster, it wasn't known it existed till people got all excited for finding it using glitches and stuff.

Which then GF shilled to hell with giveaways, promos, the anime and the movie.

So in a way there were only 150 till then.

Still comes to show how retarded GF is, why have Mewtwo in the list as 150 if there was no Mew whatsoever?

They put way too much effort to Gen 5 and it didn't sell well.
They slapped a forgettable rushed story with too much effort purely on the design alone in Gen 6 and it sold well.

Game Freak at this point realized that Pokemon fans don't have the brain capacity to play a Pokemon game. As stated by Masuda. Which is why we are putting our last hope on a fucking mobile game coming out this summer.
