only NPCs "think" this. If you think the crying about animations is bad now (tip: the real problem is integrating them with move animations, not the pokemon animations themselves) just imagine if GF were even more backwards and stuck with sprites, and we'd have an idle animation and two different attacking animations if lucky.

I liked blaziken's original pixel model for the fact that her hair was different in the orginal.

Friendly reminder it was not Game Freak who made them, it was Creatures that made them for Game freak.
You can immediately see the difference in quality if you compare SwSh's human models and Creature's Pokémon models. Humans are a polygonal mess for 2019's home console standards and Pokémon with round shapes are (almost) perfectly round.

They’re not bad. They just need to build upon their library of animations and poses. I assure you that people would stop complaining about the 3D models if they actually did some motions when they did moves.

Game Freak is constantly improving the particle effects on the moves, but they should be improving the movements of the Pokémon

Most of them are fine, it's mainly the animations that some suffer from. I'd still prefer the BW style sprites. Why do BW battles move so much faster and smoother than DP ones?

My guess is a new engine for a new generation. DP was the first set of Pokémon games on the DS coming off of the GBA, so it was new to them and thus came out poorly in terms of speed. By Platinum and HG/SS they ironed out most of speed kinks DP had. By Gen V, GF was more experienced with the DS and could improve further.
