It'll still sell an absurd amount, at least double USUM, probably around the same as XY and ORAS. LG sold really fucking well for a spinoff.

1. The Switch is Nintendo's most successful platform since the Wii. More popular than the 3DS at this rate.
2. It hits the console market and the handheld market.
3. The vast majority of Pokemon's playerbase is casual and don't care about your complaints.

Even if you are still fucking livid about the Galar dex, SWSH was really impressive up until that announcement. Even the majority of people who are pissed off and say they aren't going to play the game, probably will. When SWSH is out and everyone is enjoying a new mainline game people will feel left out and need to play.

Even most of the redditors who are pissed about the Galar dex will buy the game because it's fucking Pokemon and let's be honest, besides the Galar dex shit it looks really good and it'll certainly review well.
85 metacritic score, 15 million in sales, there will forever be purists who will never play SWSH but they're going to be like this generation's Genwunner boomers who all say Pokemon stopped being good after Gen 1/2.

Switch sales are going up worldwide exponentially lmao. This November will most likely be a price-drop year for the Switch, and it'll sell even greater. There's also a new Zelda game that'll drive sales around the same time as well. Spinoffs/remakes usually sell about 5-3 million copies less than mainline games, so take LG's sales and add +5 and you mirror XY, BW, SM sales.

No it's not. Every Pokemon community is still on fire, 2/3 of the posts under any Pokemon Twitter post is #BringBackNationalDex, Reddit is still making memes about how much GameFreak fucking sucks, Facebook is doing the same, and every SS thread here is either about how bad the game looks or hating on GameFreak.
People who aren't ignorant of the news, and who aren't ignoring every single horrible aspect of these games in order to latch on to the one or two ok looking things aren't excited anymore, why do you think the fake leak threads basically ceased to a halt other than 1 or 2 a day? The folks online probably won't buy it true, but you've got to remember that this is a Pokemon game. Even if the parents hate the absolute shit out of what Gamefreak is doing, Little timmy is still going to want to play it, so they buy it for him.
As far as an entry point for the series it's, well to be blunt it's shit, but it's still good enough to pass muster for an 8-10 year old.
Now that being said once they're done with it, and they will be considering there's probably little to no post game content to keep their attention away from Fortnite or whatever the new flavor of the month game is, then sales will plummet, but by then Gamefreak would be able to say "Fuck Gaijin Got Mine" and we'll dance this dance again with the next butchered release they trot out in a year or so.

Game Freak need to fucking learn how to do game updates. Their development model will be the end of them.

It's embarrassing because every other Pokémon spin-off game that launches with a limited number, usually adds in the rest over time. That's set an expectation.

That and the fact that every game has been built with carrying Pokémon over from the last since Gen III and that's pissed people off royally.

you don't really believe this do you? I am all for giving Pokemon to another studio, and am hoping that SwSh will sell as little as possible, but it is still going to make millions. And definitely more money than they put in, considering the little they are doing is already half finished from using old assets. Worst case scenario is that they sell more than Lets Go, which means they will continue not listening to their fans, best case scenario is they sell less than 10 million and they might come to the idea a little more effort will mean millions of $ more for them.

Look I'm upset about Gamefreak and the choices they've made as much as anyone else. But if you really think it's going to sell bad you're in for a bad time. The casual fans make up the majority of the demographic and Pokemon is pandering more and more to them. I bet it sells well, maybe not as well as it could have if they pandered to hardcore fans too but it's not going to hurt Pokemon at all to lose those.
