Never understood why Red/Satoshi is made out to be so stoic and serious from Johto onwards. He was never intended to be that way in the beginning.

Because he's supposed to be whatever you made him out to be.

Kind of hard for the devs to make Red literally everything players might expect thus like Link he's basically a blank slate.

It wasn't a drastic change. Every time you see that you're supposed to fill it in.

Again, he's the player from the original games, your link to the world just as Link is in TLoZ, not a character in his own right.

You were supposed to be beating your past self as a final battle.
