>>39298794That's my guess too since Atsuko Nishida seemed to be the only female member of Game Freak back then. But the unused Gen I female Trainer design was shown to just be Red's overworld sprite with longer hair.
In Gold and Silver, the name Atsuko was localized as Audrey, though I think it got changed for Crystal to another name. It's probably the best overall choice though.
