This. They are using the same "Super Effective" and "Not very effective" sounds since 4th gen and the same "Stats Up/Down" sounds since 3th gen, I think that upgrading that little sounds to something more modern will change a lot the experience for good.

Remember in Black and White when your Pokemon's health dropped into the red and the music shifted from upbeat to frantic? I know things were never that urgent since you could just heal them up mid battle, but there was a certain charm in hearing the usual danger zone beeping in time to the frantic music. Will we ever get that again?

What do you mean it doesn't need to be realistic? That's the only direction GF could go that will save the franchise. Real, dark, gritty. Kinda like the Dark Knight Batman movie (which also saved Batman franchise).
