Headed to Cianwood right after Morty and just beat Chuck with Heracross and ended up not even needing Ampharos.So far my native Johto pokemon only Nuzlocke is going well with very few deaths.

Why didn't you nickname your Bellossom?
And what type you're lacking really depends on what you plan to evolve Eevee into.
You don't have any counters to grass, bug, fighting, or ghost types. And Heracross is a pretty risky counter to psychic types.
Evolving Mozu into Umbreon and catching a flying type of some variety would let you cover all of your bases.

Entei and Ho-Oh are legendaries. He either didn't choose Cyndaquil or it died. Slugma and Houndour are both exclusive to the postgame. Flareon is Flareon.

How do I get the hack onto the cart? I assume it’s something like:
Download prepatched ROM -> do some shenanigans to get the file to whatever the DS wants it to be -> load it onto the Micro SD -> strap it into the cart and play

Finished up the "story" of Kanto (aka got back the power and all that), defeated Brock and about to tell Misty to get her redhead ass back to her gym

Kinda wondering about filling that 6th slot, I'm not sure I really NEED a 6th member, so the slot would only be another champ to add to the list pretty much, so I'm kinda torn about WHO I should add and IF I should even add anyone. Been thinking about Raticate, since being able to skip Rattata in future runs would be neat, but I'm definitely open to opinions and suggestions

Flareon isn't actually bad in Nuzlockes though.
Very workable special bulk, hits hard on both ends of the attacking spectrum and gets immediate access to most strong moves it would need.
The biggest issue is the fact that it costs you a potential Espeon/Umbreon.

Bugsy wasn't anymore interesting than Falkner, really. Sara Berry poisoned Metapod, then I sent in Vector who just Raged his way through the gym fight.
Side note: Bloody hell, why do I always forget about Hiker Anthony and his Machop after the Union Cave?
My entire team was seriously injured before the fight and I had to sack my newly caught Onix to get out safely. I mostly find GSC easy but this guy always give me a fright somehow.

After heading into the Aether Foundation, I quickly realized how tough some of the Trainers were. A few close calls involving a Stoutland and Arcanine had me sweating.
I thought things would be good with Hau's Raichu annihilating everything, and when I saw that Faba specializes in Psychic type Pokemon I felt pretty safe having my Trevenany, Mourning out
Hau's Raichu gets taken down by a Claydol, and then Haba sent out Bruxish
And then that Bruxish straight up oneshots Mourning with Crunch...I really wasn't expecting that, especially since I figured it would go for a Water attack against Hau's Flareon
RIP Mourning, I had some real high hopes for you
Adding Floregal to my team, seems like I'm about to face Guzma again.

My Quilava died and I have a slugma I just hate how it doesn'tt evolve until the games pretty much over and I can't use Flareon since its not a native johto mon. I'm going to bust out a Hoothoot and slap the exp share on it since that's the only flying type I have.

VS Guzma, I led off with Windburn because I knew he'd lead off with his Golisopod again, and I wanted to exploit Emergency Exit, not worried about it being part Water.
It survives Acrobactics just barely enough to not trigger its ability and oneshots Windburn with Razor Shell. Well. So much for that plan.
Then I realized that it couldn't do much to Tentasuave beyond Sucker Punch, so I set up Toxic Spikes on his team. When Emergency Exit triggered, he sent in a Vikavolt.
I've never seen one of those before, buts pretty obvious what VikaVOLT is trying to do. I switch into Clyde to take the Electric type attack.
But as I prepare my Continental Crush, it oneshots me with Energy Ball. I never would've expected that.
The rest of the battle consists of Schumer and Tentasuave whittling his team down with poison while Floregal pivots into incoming Electric type attacks. I eventually had to let Tentasuave die so Schumer could get the free switch.
I really wish I had brought death fodder in place of Formidable

I've still got some gas left. Honestly, I don't expect to win this run, but I think I can hang on until the next plot line is resolved.
This leads me into a question of my own: I met with Samson Oak on Heahea Beach after collecting 40 stickers. He gifted me a Raticate and an Araquanid, which leads me to ask:
I use Dupes Clause, so does that mean I can ignore the fact that I got a Raticate and get to use the Araquanid, or do you consider gift Pokémon differently?

Finally back home again and able to update, we managed to get through all of Kanto and even got Red down, which marks the end of our Gold run! Spammed a fuckton of X items against Red, but to be fair the fucker has high lvl 70 mons when the last important trainer had low 50s, that shit's harsh.
Unfortunately we lost ScubaFrend along the way, right before the last fight too, which smarts something terrible, but that's how it be sometimes, overall I had fewer deaths than I usually do, but the deaths I did have were pretty monumental

Losing Kingler was a huge blow, really wanted to take her all the way
Lanturn wasn't really a replacement since they both did seperate things on the team (Kingler was pretty much a Water-typed Normal attacker with Whirpool for navigation), but Lanturn was a really handy team-member (despite not being able to learn Ice moves for some weird, Gen 2 reason)

Sent in Tidus.
Got started on Growth buffing, but Clefairy instantly wakes up and Doubleslaps... only to miss.
Second Growth, and Clefairy Mimics it.
The first Metronome calls up an Earthquake, and Tidus uses Growth.
Better to kill this thing before it start getting good stuff. Mega Drain is responded to with another Metronome, Faint Attack this time. A Doubleslap ends up hitting hard(might have been a crit?), Mega Drain KOs.

Stomp leaves Tidus in the red. Mega Drain does big damage, but not enough to prevent Stomp from killing Sunflora next turn if I stay in.
Warp Stone comes in, taking a Rollout.
Next turn is a Rollout Crit, responded to by Magnitude 7.
Another Rollout, another Magnitude 7, and Warp Stone's Berry activates.
Rollout misses and a Magnitude 5 takes out Miltanks puny little sliver of health left.

Was lucky enough to snag a (female) Geodude, which is gonna be very helpful pretty much all throughout the run, and after seeing people running Ledian in Gen 2 I've found myself excited to try it too, so far Garnet and The Hero have great chemistry together, The Hero is able to take care of all the spooky Grass-types for Garnet, and Garnet, in turn, taking care of...well, pretty much every physical attacker

Very small update, just wanted to share some stuff.

Plowed throught Kanto as expected,nothing really of note happened.
Other than the fact that Lucky Star absolutely is the star of this team.

One is obviously going on my future Clefable- if it can evolve into Clefairy, it already has near maxed out happiness, and it is the best STAB move available.
Flareon is a solid second candidate(especially since it can't learn Strength) but I think it might be fine with just getting Shadow Ball instead? Feraligatr is probably fine with just using Strength instead.
Flareon probably gets the second Return unless another mon shows up and wants it more, I guess?

Flareon has 95 SpA.
That's in the same ballpark as Magmar, Entei and Arcanine and significantly more than Rapidash, Magcargo and Ninetales.
The only Fire types with a big SpA advantage over Flareon are Typhlosion, Houndoom and Ho-Oh.

Find in your box a Pokemon that can learn a priority move or Sucker Punch and Endeavor (naturally or for BP). You're basically guaranteed a Rattata/Raticate by then, unless you play without duples clause or something.

Give it the Focus Sash you get from beating the 4-Oricorio trainer on Poni. Endeavor first turn, then finish him with priority/SP.

Just keep in mind that if you're using a Raticate with Hustle, Sucker Punch can miss and you're basically dicked if you don't have some other form of priority or something with monster special def and HP (like Snorlax).

Yes, I definitely am. We just enjoyed the filming so much we REALLY outpaced how fast I could put them together, especially at the start when we were creating all the graphic elements. I am NOT fast at photoshop. Luckily, my wife is - she did almost all the pokemon photoshops!

Picked up Pollyanna the Poliwag in Violet City (love how you can get lotsa different Water types early with the Old Rod), thinking about evolving her into a Politoed since I can't even remember the last time I used one, I rarely even get the opportunity to use one, and it's a Water type with access to Waterfall(/Whirpool in a pinch) and an Ice move that's more accurate than Blizzard and more powerful than Icy Wind in Ice Punch (Gotta get some mileage outta those punch TMs!)

Yup, box them, and pull them out whenever you want to use them. I recommend making box #3 Heaven, for the sake of memories. As soon as you buy pokeballs, now the first on every route is your new teammate (unless it's one you already have, then run away and catch the next one).

Gen 2 has finally ended.
And this fight was one hell of a goodbye to Jotho.
Yeah,I should talk about Blue first,but there is nothing to say because I sent Lucky Star and just countered every single attack.
So let's get to the juicy part,Red.
Once again,feeling confident from my two previous nuzlockes and Red's terrible movesets,I decided to fight him without losing too much time grinding.
I know it was a gamble,but hey I succeded!

Issun earthquaked him in one clean hit after it missed its Thunder.
Luck was already blowing in my direction.

Inexplicably Red decided to send out this frog instead of Charizard.
Who am I to judge?
Obviously his decision wasn't clever.
Issun easily tanked its Solar Beams while slowly but surely chipping down its life,until a nice Earthquake killed it.

So I take out Magcargo and incredibly it was awesome.

So after Pearl, I decided to go for my Heart Gold. I've only played the Dray hack of this game, but I've played it so much I consider it my favorite.

Poison Ivy for sure. Even as a Budew she wrecked shit, and from evo on it was my go to sweepster. Gym-wise Barbara was probably the one with the highest win-count. Also a shoutout for Jefferson's Super Fang. It was a shit ant-air mon, but fuck me if he didnt save my ass a few times. Fun Fact; out of the numerous times I used Superfang, I think I only missed it ONCE. Considering it's an 80 accuracy move that's fucking godlike.

I don't know how the fuck I got this lucky.
Seriously I found a Tentacool with an old Rod instead of the usual Magikarp.
But that's not all: I used a repel I found on the ground to get down to a deeper floor of the Granite Cave and guess what? Fucking Mawile out of nowhere.
I'm really excited to use her,I've really never got the occasion.
Fake Tears seems like an awesome move,and Intimidate means I can box my Pooch.
So,I have many people in my team,but actually I'll be using out of these only Colonel,Air Man and Meru Meru.
Lime is for pickup,Tentacool is going to be trained up to fight the gym leader and Pooch now is not needed anymore.
I hope that my streak of luck doesn't end now.

It's not, I've got a lot of experience in alola since it's my 4th time playing gen 7 (2nd time nuzlocking). I'm really enjoying it, nuzlocking makes the Pokemon experience like 10 times better for me. I've nuzlocked every gen (including black 1 and black 2) but I lost the binder with all my notes from the previous runs. Running no items is a very different game to running items. It basically requires that your levels match your opponents' in major battles or else you risk losing at least two or three of your teammates. Held sitrus berries are your best friends in no items runs.

Salman fainted to a Seedot's Bullet Seed on the way back to Jubilife. It hit 4 times, and was very unlucky.

I managed to train Tesla on the route north of Oreburgh, using the pokéradar to find non-ground/rock pokémon (which there were many of in the areas surrounding Oreburgh; the romhack gives you the pokéradar in Sandgem.)
The highest chain ~34 ponyta, but I ran out of repels, so I was unable to obtain a shiny. There were two close calls: Tesla almost fainted to a Cubone (which ended a charmeleon chain, starters are pokéradar exclusive in the romhack) when I wasn't paying attention, leaving her at 5/36 HP, and Augustine was almost killed by a BugCatcher's Bug Bite south of Floaroma after being paralyzed by an AromaLady's Cherrim.

A TM was used to teach Bullet Seed to Broadway.

Finally, I found a Thunder Stone in Floaroma, and plan to evolve Tesla.

(Some other things: this is my first Nuzlocke, so no champs, but I will do Gen I/the rest i order as soon as this is comlleted. The image attached was taken using mobile screenshot. I could download the image but I'm just lazy.)

Will update once I reach Eterna Forest.

And quite understandable to use items if you're new to nuzlockes, you kinda forget just how many curveballs Pokemon can throw at you until death becomes permanent, crits, unexpected coverage moves, unexpected Pokemon, it can be hard to predict when you also have to balance that against the survival of your team!
And darn, yeah, there goes my Wobbuffet dreams unless I do something crazy stupid like have a wish supporter, which I have not been crazy enough to do...yet

Yeah, you have to completely change up your tactics both in and out of battle if you run no items, anything even remotely defensive has to have a healing move or they're basically useless and in general it's hyper offense or bust
I really love it tho, makes me have to think on my toes more often, no one is safe

Made it to the forest; the rom's levels have spiked. The levels are 8-10 south of floaroma, then 11-14 at the windworks, then 16-19 south of eterna. Basically they moved up to be the same as local trainer's levels.

Boombox was caught at the windworks. It knew Sonicboom and Rollout; I would have loved to use it later on. Fainted to a Pachirisu's Bide, Rollout missed. I did not expect it to miss; if it hit, the Pachirisu would have fainted.

Team Galactic was mostly easy to deal with, except for Mars, who had a Hippopotas and another Pokémon I forgot.

Aspen had Nature Power, which was Seed Bomb It was able to OHKO everything south of Eterna.

Since I have both stones, I can evolve Aspen and Tesla. However, I've decided it would be best to evolve them later, so they can learn more moves (as the movesets were probably changed in this romhack).

Hoping Cheryl doesn't KO my encounter for Eterna.

Yeah Black and White 2 I went for rematch Elite four since I didn't do it in B/W.
Ultra Moon was tricky since I had to rebuild everything but Gyarados after Necrozma and I was running pretty low on mons by then. Thankfully DD Gyarados and Nasty Plot Houndoom were good enough to carry me through to the end, though I'd be lying is I said I didn't almost lose everyone to Kahili.

The catch for Eterna Forest was KOd by Cheryl; once I left, however, I was able to catch a Yanma, Macaroni. I trained east of Eterna and caught a Growlithe, Basil. The catch for Mt. Coronet was a Diglett, which the now-evolved Nimbus KOd.

I planned on training Basil and Macaroni by using the Lucky Egg and Exp. Share at the Eterna Gym, which I had just recieved from the bike route gate. Basil performed well, as he was a fire type. I also decided not to use Nimbus as he was overleveled for the gym so Basil and Macaroni would get the Exp.

In retrospect, I shouldn't have done that, since in the battle with Gardenia, Basil got his HP down to yellow and was badly poisoned. I was afraid he would faint, so I switched to Macaroni. Macaroni fainted to Cherrim's Weather Ball, after which Cherrim used Toxic Spikes.

I do not know why I acted so rashly...I impulsively switched to Palladium, reasoning that poison had no effect on steel. The Cherrim used grass knot; as he was very heavy, Palladium was OHKOd. It was a very sad moment.

Now that I have Cut, I shall visit the Old Chateau. I am hoping to get a good ghost type pokêmon.

That's usually the standard.
And don't forget to change your battle style to set. If you usually play competitive, you might have forgotten that shift is the default.

So while I haven't posted in a while, that doesn't mean I haven't been playing. I managed to make my way not only through Sunnyshore but I arrived at the Pokemon League. Throughout that my levels have varied so I'll try to briefly summarize:

The 8th gym was fairly simple but freaking weird. There was a schoolboy with a Mr Mime, and out of sheer paranoia I switched Talos out of the way into Poseidon, and he ended up using Magical Leaf. After everything, I would have lost Talos to an offtype random in a gym. Really made my heart skip a beat but I'm glad I switched. Volkner's biggest threat was Ambipom, which is just bizarre to me. This game's gyms were just super strange and hard to properly plan for. After clearing this, my team was around 47-49.

The next stretch encouraged me to go back and do some cleanup work and I managed to steal a Lucky Egg from a Chansey, but the process took several hours so I'm not sure if I actually saved any time. I also managed to get some nice berries from the home in Pastoria, so that's going to be great for the E4. At the point of beating my Rival and clearing Victory Road, my team was 51-55.

So at this point I've done it. I actually managed to hit the league with zero casualties. Win or lose at this point I'm really happy with how this run has gone (as sloooow as its been) and I have a few new monsters to fall back on if I actually wipe, so I feel like I'm in a good spot.

That said, the grind has been atrocious. It took me ages to get up to this point thanks to the general slow speed of the game, but part of that is my fault due to how my team is composed, so that is on me. In the time it took me to level it looks like people have cleared whole leagues, haha. But still, I've had a ton of fun. I actually reached Victory Road at sunset, so battling trainers on red water and being rewarded by that nice piano tune was a real treat.

3 hits of Fury Swipes doesn't do too much damage, and Sludge Bomb finishes off the Primeape.

A Surf from this thing is gonna hit Joy like a truck, so I send in Sara Berry. However, Hypnosis hits, throwing a big fork into my plans to Sleep Powder it.
I send in Minwu instead to get going with a Confusion offensive, but DynamicPunch hits on the switch.
I switch Sara Berry in again to get Minwu's confusion to go away, and Poliwrath gets a DynamicPunch miss.
I have Sara Berry try to wake up, but she fails, allowing Poliwrath to get a Mind Reader going.
I switch in Minwu to throw off Mind Reader... only to suffer a DynamicPunch Crit, making Minwu too damaged to do anything more in this fight.
At this point, I decide I might as well stall out the remaining DynamicPunches with Sara Berry- maybe I can get lucky and have her wake up, too?
She doesn't wake up, but soaks the last 2 DynamicPunches, but is to injured to continue.
Vector comes in on Surf, Poliwrath's only offensive option now.
Three Strengths finishes off Poliwrath as it misses two chances at Hypnosis.

Finally I am done. Perhaps it's just DP and not Platinum, or maybe it's the slowness of Gen 4 but I really think the Sinnoh region is SUCH A SLOG... either way I do appreciate the difficulty of the late game. If I had not used Gyarados I actually believe I'd have lost this run, without DDance setup I don't believe there was a 'fair' way to beat the E4 - and although the levels are lower in Platinum the mons and movesets are harder. My favorite pair for the chunk of the game were Bibarel and Machamp (Wood and Weight) which got bopped after Fantina 5th gym. Toxicroak and Girafarig were almost net detriments to the team and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Pachirisu - the rat is so weak but the Pickup ability got me at least 10 Rare Candies over the hours. Fun run, slightly OP Pokemon in Gyarados.

I will likely play Renegade Platinum whenever I revisit Sinnoh but next up will be Black 2. Probably just a 'normal' run but please suggest ideas.

I also got a Shuca Berry from the woman in the western house in Pastoria, which will go on Empoleon in the champ fight so he can hopefully live the EQ and Ice Beam Garchomp back. I managed to get the Expert Belt from the old guy near the Pal Park, but no Focus Sash yet - and even if I did get it, I would just trade it to a different game for Battle Frontier/multiplayer use.

Holy shit I actually beat the 12v12 admin fight without deaths. My rival actually helped a lot instead of just dying immediately! I basically hyper-focused the left side while my rival sat there with a +5 def/spdef Cosmic Power Clefable and sponged hits. While training Basil I was worried I would run into ArenaTrap Trapinch and get OHKOd, but that didn't happen. There were some selfdestruct Graveler but everyone could handle them;

don't plan on using the Cynthia egg (Togepi); Broadway evolved, and learned Earthquake. Currently training Cobalt in Eterna.

Feraligatr in GSC might be the best Nuzlocke starter of them all. It has no real period of weakness. In more casual runs or speedruns, Infernape has it beat in DPP, but in a Nuzlocke Infernape's frailty will have you worry about it quite a bit.

Hello every, have not posted in months since the school semester started and I got real busy. Could not find where I had saved my most recent template so I just did this and will fill in the blanks later. All 8 badges have been collected and I am working victory road. The team is mostly set and JEthro Tull just learned Future Sight. I had no idea it could learn a psychic move and thought it was funny enough to be worth replacing Rest with. I also am thinking that I want to replace Delphinium's Sleep Powder with some other kind of coverage move but still not sure what. Si Podemos also probably does not need both Thunder and Thunder Bolt but I think I am going to keep them both for PP reasons since the Champ is a Water user in Emerald.

Again, gonna fill in the missing badges and such later.

Consider getting one of the elemental punches for Lopunny from the move tutors. That's it really for now. I always hardcore save my TMs though and tend to only blow them all for the endgame, by which point I barely use the moves contained.

Poseidon used Grass Knot, which actually doesn’t KO scaring me for a moment, but it uses Zen Headbutt. Does it not have EQ? Or was it merciful RNG? Either way I’ll take it.

I lead with Golem, hoping for a Stone Edge. Instead it Bounces up and I totally miss, wasting it. I also realize I forgot to Ether so I only have one Stone Edge left, great. I EQ on the landing and put out this horse.

I send out Xander for the Intimidate, and try to go for a Spark. It outspeeds with Thunder Punch (why) and ends up getting paralyzed from a Spark, thank goodness. Trying to avoid the Full Restore, I go for a Crunch and Crit, but the Berry pushes it back up. It survives the next Spark at a single pixel of health and Flint Full Restores, great. But the next Spark CRITS and PARALYZES, goddamn Xander I love you so much. Even after taking those Mach Punches he’s still in the green for health, and he easily finishes the monkey off.

Episkyros is up, and with the Full Restore used I go for Toxic. The bun goes for Sunny Day, boy I’m glad the ape didn’t have sun support. I go for Fly and I see that this rabbit has Mirror Coat, glad I didn’t send in a special attacker. 2 Flies and Toxic take out the lagomorph.

I’m pretty sure this can use Blizzard so I don’t want Talos out there, and end up going with Poseidon, Ice Beaming it. It goes for Ominous Wind and doesn’t get the Boost, but he pops another Full Restore. Fuck, they have more than one? Thankfully Poseidon still handles it just fine with Ice Beam, leveling to 61.

I leave Xander in and set up Light Screen while the bell uses Calm Mind, fug. I swap to Anaxagoras and eat the Psychic from the bell, getting a Sp Def drop, fuuug. I decide to Calm Mind and the bell responds with a Gyro Ball that hits WAY TOO HARD, dropping Anaxagoras to 20 HP. I swap to Phoebos and tank the Gyro Ball, firing and missing with Leech Seed. It uses Earthquake (what) and I get the Seeds up. I swap to Episkyros, hoping to balk up and get some boosts. Stockpile on the first turn while the bell Calm Minds as the Light Screen wears off, oh fuck. Ominous Wind does very little and Psychic does half my health AND gets the Sp Def drop, oh my God I hate this bell. I swap Xander in for the Intimidate, wanting to weaken those EQs and thinking it will Calm Mind and it gets WRECKED BY PSYCHIC, RIP XANDER YOU LEGEND THAT WAS ENTIRELY MY FAULT. I send in Talos, putting all my hopes on an Earthquake. It totally has Levitate and I drop low on health from a Psychic. Fire Blast connects and does NOTHING, and Talos SURVIVES THE INCOMING EQ AT 4 HP! Lucian activates his Full Restore as I go for another Fire Blast, hoping for a crit or a burn here and getting neither. The next Fire Blast drops him to about half health but Gyro Ball drops Talos to 22 HP. All I can do is keep Fire Blasting while Leech Seed plinks it down and keeps Talos alive. The fifth and final Fire Blast does it in

I send in Episkyros and go for a Toxic. Or I try to, and end up eating a CRIT FIRE PUNCH THAT KO’S OH MY GOD! At least Aftermath does its job of retaliating. I send out Anaxagoras who drops it with a Shadow Ball. RIP Episkyros, you noble balloon.

I use the first turn to Hyper Potion Anaxagoras back up in case I need him. Poseidon drops the giraffe with two Surfs.
