The truth however is that his site has become stale and irrelevant. People have tons of better and alternative sites to get news from now, so why would they use his dated website?
The only people I can imagine still using his site are the autists into breeding and competitive battles, who rely on his calculators and such. But even they’re a dying breed when the franchise is becoming more kiddified and less complicated with every release.
So yeah, his desperate shilling isn’t because of any love for the series, it’s simply because his main source of income has been steadily decreasing and his desperation is starting to show. He was even making threats about removing his site recently, implying as though the community was lucky to have it and that if people didn’t bow down to his will and opinion he’d punish them. Utterly laughable of course, and not something Joe actually meant, but again, it just shows how worried and desperate he’s become.
