As meh as these games are, they were a mixed blessing on getting normies to get fed up with GF's shit. The amount of things you can do with Pikachu/Eevee made people who played these games hungry for the next mainline game to actually go further with a Pokemon game that wasn't limited by the power of a handheld. I doubt some fans will be sated until the interactions with Pikachu/Eevee are standard for the entire Dex on a Switch game, among other things.
