>Back in April, CoroCoro ran a competition for the most powerful Steel-type move's name and today they have announced the winner. The move, known by Duraludon is known in Japan as roughly "Exhaustive Beam" or Do-or-Die" (てっていこうせん). This name is a pun based on two different Japanese phrases making an exact translation tricky. This move is Steel-type, Special with 140 base power and will do recoil of 50% of the user's HP.

For one, only three of those (Fable, Lele and Bulu) are actually weak to Steel. Secondly, legendaries, megas, and mythicals are first on the chopping block for cuts, so very likely none of those besides the Genwun mon will even be in OU. So you're sacrificing a moveslot at 50% of your HP for a worse version of Mind Blown (a move Blacephalon doesn't even run) with worse power and worse offensive typing... just to kill Clefable.

Lord help you the opponent predicts you'll click it and switches out to a bulky water, making you lose half your HP for nothing.

I hope not. I want it to have a huge SpA stat and mad bulky stats but the dex description and that fact that it has Heavy Metal makes it like it would be fast and mixed.

I know that it's very hard to measure things like this at this point in time, but 163 HP seems quite low for something at level 60

I know this means nothing considering Escavalier and Vikavolt, but they DO emphasize supposedly Duraludon's lightweight body and surprising speed, so I am thinking this is gonna be more of a glass cannon type of Pokemon. I could obviously be totally be wrong, though.

It's gonna be a fast sweeper so HP wouldn't matter much. With that being said, I wouldn't rely on the trailers' footage for such calcs.

So Duraludon is either a special attacker or another Zygarde Complete where it have one signature move that does not help it's attack stats. Seriously, having a special attacker steel type is really dumb, because of how many steel type moves are physical. How will it even help Duraludon?

It seems like the move is like Blacephalon's signature move mind blown. Blacephalon has flamethrower and fire blast though, as well as a retarded high special attack stat. Also mind blown was 150 BP instead of 140 BP. Kind of sucks. I don't see Duralodon being good unless he ends up having other solid STAB options. Flash cannon is okay, but doesnt do that much damage. Draco meteor is good, but it lowers special attack. Dragon pulse is mediocre because it doesn't do that much damage and is dragon stab, which isn't great in a fairy/steel dominated meta.

My predictions are:

>Atk:120

>Sp.Def:90

For a total of 600 BST, cause I'm thinking its the Pseudo this gen.

Even though they said it only weights 40kg and is able to move surprisingly fast, it just doesnt look like its going to go any faster than that, it just looks too clumsy.
90 sp.def because its "known to rust easily" and 110def cause "its body is durable regardless of the lightweight" and HP based on the trailers.
Atk and Sp.Atk 120 because usually steel types have good atk but its got the new strong special steel type move so I feel like its gonna have good or great sp.atk

Switch the offensive stats with the defensive stats and it would be perfect to me. I would love for a bulk centered pseudo for a change. It will probably learn Dragon Dance so even if its Atk is just decent, with a good bulk it can tank hits and boost.

I dont think so, it will prolly just get the standard Iron Defence, Autotomize/Rock Polish and maybe Swords Dance at best, since I think it will also use its Sp.atk, it should get some sp.atk boosting move as well, maybe Calm Mind at best or just something like Work up. (just thinking of moves that makes sense for it)

I just thought that since it's a Kaiju like Tyranitar, it might get some of its similar moves but I understand where you're coming from.
Would be cool if it could learn Cal Mind but that most likely ain't happening. The last 2 generations made curbed the distribution of Calm Mind. Even Primarina can't learn it. Work Up would be great because I love using mixed sets.
