Audino bro. If they went with an octopath traveler style the games could look better and the 2D sprites of many gen 5 pokemon look better then the models.

The newer Pokemon wouldn't work in 2D because they're designed with 3D in mind and have gimmicks in their designs that don't work without fully animated 3D models.

An extreme .1% of Pokemon benefit, with some of them now no longer existing like the Megas, while the rest of the 800+ species get generic idle animations and soulless XYZ axis movement/rotation with no actual animation from the model itself.

Those sprites are for the most part pretty bad, though. Sobble, Scorbunny, Yamper, Drednaw, and especially Wooloo look way worse. Corviknight looks even edgier, too.

sprites allow for better aesthetics and more things to be fit in. You wouldn't have cut the Battle Frontier or half the Dex in a region made of sprites.
